Box Score MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's soccer team defeated United East conference opponent Cedar Crest 6-0 on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 5.
The Lions (4-4-3, 2-0 United East) opened the scoring seven minutes into the contest, as Ciera Frick soared a corner kick into the box to Mackenzie Mowery who placed the ball perfectly for Katelyn Monette to easily tap it in past the Falcon's goalkeeper. Later in the first half, Ava Myers found Julia Hughes within the 18 and Hughes was able to skid the ball into the bottom right corner of the net to bring the game to 2-0 in favor of the home team going into halftime.
Penn State Harrisburg continued to put the pressure on Cedar Crest (3-2-2, 1-1-1 United East) from the start of the second half, as the Lions had a total of 18 shots in the final frame. Serenity Hill found the back of the net thanks to an assists from Julia Hughes, and then Hughes recorded her second marker of the day on a breakaway. Nearly 20 seconds later, Monette also registered her second goal against the Falcons which was helped by none other than Hughes.
The most impressive marker was the last goal of the contest, when Ava Fox played keep-away around the right corner of the 18 and rocketed the ball into the top right corner out of reach of Cedar Crest's goalkeeper Bella Bozen. Bozen was under constant fire throughout the game, tallying 11 saves on 17 shots on goal. Sydney Mulka and Alexis Valenta split time evenly for Penn State Harrisburg in the goalkeeper position on Saturday.
