Women's Soccer Suffers First Loss of the Young Season

Box Score

SALEM, Va. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's soccer team wrapped up its first weekend of action this season on the final night of the two-day Roanoke Invitational with a 3-0 setback against Lynchburg on Saturday, Sept. 2.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lions (1-1) were slowed by the reigning Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Champions on Saturday night, managing just four total shots in the team's first loss of the young season.

Sydney Dombrovskis was the catalyst for the Hornets (2-0), scoring a pair of goals, including the game winner. She struck for the first time in the 27th minute when she finished off a feed from Haleigh Casey to put the Hornets out in front.

Lynchburg doubled its advantage less than eight minutes later when Ainsley Yates found the back of the net and Dombrovskis struck again with her second marker early in the second half to pad her squad's cushion after the break.

NOTABLES

- Sydney Hemler got off the lone shot on goal for Penn State Harrisburg

- Goalkeeper Sydney Mulka made a season-high five saves for the Lions.

- Saturday's contest was the first-ever meeting between the programs.

WHO'S NEXT?

The Lions host Bryn Mawr for their home opener under the lights on Wednesday night, Sept. 6.
