Men's Basketball Beats Back Neumann

Box Score

ASTON, Pa. - Donyae Baylor-Carroll reached a major shooting milestone and Penn State Harrisburg's men's basketball team turned it on down the stretch to create separation in a 75-66 non-conference road victory at Neumann on Thursday night, Dec. 7.

Baylor-Carroll, the NCAA Division III active leader in 3-point field goals, connected on five triples to reach the 300 mark for his career en route to finishing with a game-high 25 points. Nate Curry had 11 points and seven rebounds, while Alex Leiba finished one bucket and a rebound shy of a double-double. Dylan Moore provided a spark with 10 points off the bench.

After leading by as many as a dozen points early in the second half, the Lions (9-1) saw their advantage shrink to two with 10:51 remaining following a 12-3 run by Neumann (2-7) over the previous 2:59.

Isaiah Eggleston and Moore stemmed the tide with back-to-back-to-back layups before Baylor-Carroll sank the first of his second-half 3-balls to push the lead back to nine at the 8:19 mark. The teams traded buckets over the ensuing four minutes until the Knights cut the deficit to five with a pair of free throws and a layup with 3:45 to play but Baylor-Carroll created separation for the visitors by hitting the 300th triple of his career with 3:27 remaining.

Curry stretched the lead to nine with a jumper off a Chase Robinson find with 1:22 left and despite the home team drawing to within six points in the final minute, Baylor-Carroll knocked down four straight free throws in the final 30 seconds to put things out of reach.

The contest was a back-and-forth affair in the early going but five consecutive points from Moore and a pair of Robinson free throws midway through the first half gave Penn State Harrisburg its first cushion of the night. A Robinson jumper at the 5:59 mark pushed the lead into double digits for the first time and the Lions took a 34-24 advantage into the break following a Baylor-Carroll jumper with a minute remaining before halftime.
