Men's Soccer Season Ends In Divisional Final

Box Score

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - The season came to an end for Penn State Harrisburg's men's soccer team with a 2-0 loss to conference rival St. Mary's (Md.) in the United East Volt Division Final on Wednesday night, Nov. 1.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Penn State Harrisburg (8-5-7) had its chances but was unable to find the back of the net during Wednesday's season-ending setback against the Seahawks (11-6-3).

A back-and-forth opening half ended without either squad converting a marker but St. Mary's changed the momentum early in the second half when Zack Glime netted what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 57th minute off an assist from Luke Duswalt.

A defensive miscue by Penn State Harrisburg allowed the Seahawks to add an insurance goal with less than 13 minutes left to play when Lucca Mazzola corralled a ball in the box from Ned Schauermann and put his attempt past goalkeeper Shayon Kashi to double the advantage late in the second half.

NOTABLES

- Penn State Harrisburg outshot the Seahawks 9-to-8 overall and 6-to-5 in shots on target.

- The Lions earned eight corner kicks. St. Mary's finished with six.

- The loss was Penn State Harrisburg's first to the Seahawks since 2018.

- Kobe Harris got off a team-high two shots on goal.

- Matthew Kopsidas made six saves in goal to preserve the win for St. Mary's.
