Women's Volleyball Splits in United East Tri-Match Action

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg women's volleyball team split a pair of United East conference matches with Lancaster Bible and host institution Penn College on Saturday, Oct. 29. 

 

The Lions conquered Penn College by set scores 25-9, 24-29, 25-15, and 25-18 in the day's opening contest before dropping another four-setter versus Lancaster Bible 25-21, 15-25, 26-24, and 21-25 during the Lions' last match. Four players from Penn State Harrisburg posted 15 or more kills across both matches, as Tiniira Tubo led the squad with 24 kills on the day. Olivia Koicuba impressive on defense, earning 36 total digs, while Alyssa Snyder finished with an outstanding 56 assists in the two outings.

 

In the first contest, the Blue & White handled the Wildcats in the beginning set, thanks to an 8-0 run by the Lions to put them up 11-3. Although the home team took the second set, the Lions bounced back to earn the last sets of the match.

 

The second match started off very promising for Penn State Harrisburg, as they took the first set 25-21. Julia Choe had two back-to-back service aces in the first set to tie the contest at eight apiece. The Chargers took sets two, three, and four, but the Lions didn't go without a fight, as they forced set three into extra points. 

 

NOTABLES 

- The Blue & White produced 20 total service aces on the day. Snyder, Choe, Tubo, and Megan Morris all had 4 aces each. 

- Tubo was the only Penn State Harrisburg player to reach double-digit kills against the Wildcats with 10. The junior also led the team with 14 kills in the second match, which was good enough for a kill average of .522. 

- Koicuba dug out 21 balls against the Chargers after registering 15 against Penn College. 

- Snyder tallied 34 assists during the second match after racking up 22 in the opener. 

- Henderson ended with 17 kills on the offensive side and 13 digs on defense between both contests. 

- Defensively, Tubo was a threat also, as she produced 17 total digs on the day. 

- Anna Ruff shined on defense and offense, where she finished with 16 kills and nine digs through both matches.
