Offense Shines For Men's Soccer In 8-0 Victory

Box Score

READING, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's soccer team scored early and often in its decisive 8-0 shutout victory over conference foe Penn State Berks on a rainy Saturday afternoon, Oct. 1.

Daniel Fombu and Kobe Harris led the attack, with each player recording five total points thanks to a pair of goals and an assist. Marc Rodgers and Daryl Lucas also tallied three points apiece behind a marker and helper, while Katim Njie assisted on a pair of scores.

Harris got the scoring started with his first marker of the day off a Fombu cross in the 12th minute and Rodgers doubled the advantage by converting a penalty kick following a Penn State Berks (2-7-1, 1-2 United East) foul just 27 seconds later.

Harris netted his second goal of the half less than three minutes later after he finished off a pass from Luke Myers and Fombu found the back of the net for the first time in the 17th minute after a find from Harris.

Penn State Harrisburg (5-2-4, 2-0-1 United East) took a four-goal lead into halftime and Fombu wasted little time adding to it after the break when he buried his second marker of the afternoon in the 49th minute. Rodgers and Lucas assisted on the score.

Tyler Madairy got into the scoring act when he finished off a feed from Njie three minutes later, Lucas finished off an Njie cross in the 70th minute, and Griffen Martello capped the game's scoring with a finish following a find from Anson Portzline with 10 minutes left in regulation.
