Men's Basketball Wins Fifth In a Row

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's men's basketball team won its fifth game in a row on Saturday afternoon, defeating United East foe SUNY Morrisville 73-57 at the Capital Union Building.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

Penn State Harrisburg (8-1, 2-0 United East) used a game-changing run to close out the final seven minutes of the first half before cruising to a convincing win over SUNY Morrisville (2-6, 0-2 United East) on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 4. Dylan Daniels and Nate Curry each had double-doubles and Donyae Baylor-Carroll netted 12 points.

 

Leading 30-24 with 6:46 remaining in the first half, the Lions put together an 18-3 spurt that included a beautiful breakaway reverse layup from Brandon Coleman to stretch their advantage to 48-27 heading into halftime.

 

The home team kept its foot on the gas after the break, with the Blue & White taking their largest lead at 63-36 following a Chris Haynes finger roll off a Pedro Rodriguez assist with 12:02 left to play. A Robert Bobeck layup got the Lions to 70 in the closing minutes and while the Mustang reserves connected on a pair of 3-pointers in the final minutes but it was far too little too late.

 

NOTABLES

- Morrisville shot 38.5 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from beyond the arc.

- The Lions shot 36 percent from the floor and 20 percent from 3-point range.

- The Blue & White finished with a 51-37 edge in the rebounding department.

- Penn State Harrisburg forced 21 Mustang turnovers and scored 25 points off their miscues.

- The Blue & White bench outscored Morrisville's reserves 21-19.

- Dylan Daniels recorded his sixth double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds. He also had four blocks.

- Nate Curry posted his fifth double-double of the year with 12 points and 11 rebounds. He added four assists.

- Donyae Baylor-Carroll finished with 12 points, four rebounds, and three steals.

- Brandon Coleman tallied eight points, six boards, four steals, and three assists.

- Zegary Scott III dished out six assists to go along with four points.

- Robert Bobeck added six points off the bench and Chris Haynes had five in a reserve role.

- Pedro Rodriguez grabbed seven boards and swiped a pair of steals.

 

WHO'S NEXT?

The Lions wrap up the 2021 portion of their schedule when they host Scranton for a non-conference matchup on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 11. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
