Scott McGrady is entering his third season as an assistant coachof Penn State Harrisburg’s baseball program.
McGrady has over a decade’s worth of coaching experienceat various levels and he began his coaching career shortly aftergraduating college. He served as a junior varsity assistant at EastPennsboro High School before taking the reins as theprogram’s head coach.
He eventually accepted the head coaching position atSteelton-Highspire High School before joining up with current PennState Harrisburg head coach and then head coach of Hershey HighSchool, Ryan Bown. As a member of the Hershey staff, McGradyhelped lead the Trojans to a Mid-Penn Conference Keystone Divisiontitle and the school’s first-ever outright Mid-PennChampionship in 2012.
In 2013, McGrady followed Bown to Penn State Harrisburg andhelped lead the Blue & White to their best season inschool-history; a campaign that saw the Lions win a school-record26 games and a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC)championship. Penn State Harrisburg also earned theprogram’s first-ever NCAA Division III ChampionshipTournament berth.
At Jackson High School in Massillon, Ohio, McGrady playedbaseball for four years. While attending Clarion University,however, he turned his focus to football. He graduated in2003 with a degree in Secondary Education- Social Studies andearned his Master's Degree from the University of Cincinnati.
McGrady currently resides in Harrisburg, Pa. with his wife,Lauren and two daughters, Ashlyn and Brenna.
