HARRISBURG, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's golf team earned a runner-up finish at the two-day United East Championships contested at Dauphin Highlands Golf Course. Gary Johnson was named the United East Coach of the Year, while Gavin Fegley and Dillon Yinger secured all-conference honors for their efforts.
As a group, the Lions battled through rainy and difficult conditions to finish four strokes (+40) off the championship mark set by the overall winners from Penn College. For his team's efforts, Johnson was voted the United East Coach of the Year by his peers.Â
Fegley climbed the leaderboard throughout the day and ultimately finished in seventh with a two-day total of +9 (153). Yinger matched the single-round program record for low score on Friday with a -3 (69) before eventually finishing in a tie for eighth overall thanks to carding a +10 (154). Both golfers earned United East All-Conference Second Team recognition.Â
Jacob Lotz and Bronson Earley just missed out on top-10 finishes of their own and secured a share of 13th overall, while Isaiah Day rounded out the group in a tie for 18th and ensuring top-20 finishes for each Penn State Harrisburg golfer.Â
