STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's and women's indoor track & field teams competed with some of the nation's best at the Fastrack National Invite at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Friday evening, Feb. 6.
Destiny Samuels was especially impressive on the women's side, setting a new program record in the 400m with a time of 1:01.19, besting the previous record originally set in 2023 by former standout Tatyana Gibson by .58 seconds. Her effort was good enough to secure 38th place out of 99 total competitors in the event. She also took part in the 200m and 4x400m relay.
Bassma Torky improved upon her PR in the shot put, as her top toss of 10.56 meters now stands as the third-best mark in the event in program history. Isabella McGuire earned a top-20 finish in the weight throw to lead the way in the event, while teammate Elaina Torta finished one spot behind her.
Shaeli McGeary took part in both the women's triple and long jump events, while MaKayla Reichel represented the distance group in the 5,000m.
On the men's side, Nathan Cammauf had himself a nice outing, finishing seventh in the 60m out of 93 total runners thanks to a sprint of 7.14 seconds. He also combined with teammates Kadin Sodmont, Daniel Risser and Jaden Mitchell to run a 3:30.07 in the 4x400m relay - a mark good enough to rank third all-time in program history in the event.
Andrew Geocos had a strong showing in the pole vault, with his top conversion of 4.40 meters earning him a sixth-place finish. Elsewhere in the field events, Jonathan Luo was in action in the jumps, while Connor Daubert was the team's top finisher in both the shot put and weight throw. Landon Weldon was the top finisher in the 200m and distance runner Zack Gibson competed in the 5,000m.
The Lions are set to celebrate Valentine's Day next weekend by traveling to Susquehanna for the second time this season for the SU Invite on Saturday, Feb. 14.
