Softball Closes Out Regular Season With Doubleheader Split

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's softball team closed out the regular season with a doubleheader split with Penn State Schuylkill at Courtney Pollock Memorial Field on Tuesday afternoon, April 29. Penn State Harrisburg took game one 8-1 before falling by the slimmest of margins in a 3-2 setback in the nightcap.

Madelyn Lehigh drove in two runs and scored two more in the opener, while Cara Biesecker tallied three RBIs. Madisen Minney tripled and scored a run, while Carissa Yeager earned her sixth win of the season inside the circle, allowing just one hit in four innings thrown.

The hometown Lions (25-10) put up four in the bottom of the first inning thanks to a Rylee Martinez RBI single and a Biesecker single that plated three runs. Schuylkill (17-15) got on the board in the third but the home team answered right back in the bottom half when another Martinez base knock scored Minney.

Penn State Harrisburg put things out of reach in the sixth when Lehigh doubled to center field and drove in a pair before Lehigh scored on an error to push the lead to seven.
