SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's and women's outdoor track & field teams battled through cold and windy conditions at a rare mid-week competition at the Shippensburg PR Bonanza on Wednesday, April 16.

Jonathan Luo turned in record-breaking performances in both the long jump and the triple jump to lead the way on the men's side, while on the women's side, Destiny Samuels went into second-place all time in the 400m and Carson Villani improved her personal best in the high jump.

Luo earned a first-place finish in the triple jump after posting a top bound of 13.79 meters which broke his own top program record. Luo also finished fourth in the long jump and his attempt of 6.99 meters stands as the second-best mark in program history. Tony Pelino won the pole vault thanks to a mark of 4.35 meters, which matched his career best. The men's 4x100m relay team, which included Keegan Gray, Kadin Sodmont, Stephen Bogovic, and Nathan Cammauf earned a first-place finish.

Samuels garnered a first-place finish of her own in the 400m and her jaunt of 1:01.39 was good enough to move her into second all-time in program history. She also helped teammates Katrin Cavanaugh, Carson Villani, and Kaitlyn Davis to a 4x100m relay number one victory with a time of 56.30. Villani earned a fifth-place finish in the high jump and moved to second all-time with her attempt of 1.55 meters.

Elsewhere on the men's side, Zakareya Aidel, Matthew Labarge, and Evan O'hara all earned top-10 finishes in the 400m hurdles, pole vault, and javelin, respectively. The foursome of Aidel, Daniel Risser, Angel Patino, and Zach Gibson finished sixth in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:46.06.

For the women, Farangiz Kholmatova finished third in the 3000m steeple, while Layna Horner and Davis finished seventh and eighth in the 400m dash. Katrin Cavanaugh rounded out the top-10 finishers for the Lions, as she earned 10th-place in the pole vault.

The Lions return to Shippensburg University on Saturday, April 26 for the Paul Kaiser Classic.
