HAVERFORD, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's and women's indoor track & field teams returned to action at the Seamus McElligott Invitational hosted by Haverford on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 1.
Destiny Samuels and Katrin Cavanaugh turned in strong outings on the women's side, while Jonathan Luo, Nathan Cammauf and Matthew LaBarge led the way for the men's squad.Â
Samuels secured a seventh-place finish in the 800m thanks to her jaunt of 2:31.32. Her time was good enough to rank second all-time in the event in program history. Cavanaugh earned a runner-up finish and matched the second-best mark in school history in the pole vault thanks to her top effort of 3.05 meters.Â
Luo's top leap of 12.92 meters in the triple jump secured him a sixth-place finish and catapulted him into second place on the program's all-time record book in the event. LaBarge turned in a top effort of 3.65 meters in the pole vault, good enough for fifth place and a mark that ranks tied for third all-time in the event. Cammauf was stellar in the short sprints, finishing third in the 60m and fifth in the 200m.Â
Elsewhere for the women, Taylor Nicholas earned a top-10 finish in the 200m, while Isabella McGuire was the team's top finisher in both the shot put and weight throw.Â
On the men's side, Kadin Sodmont finished seventh in the 200m and 12th in the 400m. Sean Myron was the top finisher in the weight throw with a seventh-place effort, while Oluwa Kinti was the top thrower in the shot put.
The Lions will look to keep the momentum rolling at the Frank Colden Invitational hosted by Ursinus on Saturday, Feb. 8.Â
