SELINSGROVE, Pa. - After a six-week hiatus, Penn State Harrisburg's men's and women's indoor track & field teams returned to action at the River Hawk Invitational hosted by Susquehanna on Saturday, Jan. 18.
The men were led by impressive performances by Nathan Cammauf and Jonathon Luo, while Katrin Cavanaugh and Destiny Samuels turned in strong efforts on the women's side.
Cammauf earned a sixth-place finish in the 60m thanks to a sprint of 7.10 seconds - an effort good enough to rank third all-time in the event in program history. Luo had a similarly impressive outing in the triple jump, as his top leap of 12.77 meters proved strong enough to secure a runner-up finish on Saturday and rank third all-time in program history in the event. He also finished ninth in the long jump.
Cavanaugh matched her career PR in the pole vault thanks to a top effort of 3.05 meters. It earned her a fourth-place finish and matched her own second-best all-time mark in the event in program history. Samuels came home seventh in the 400m with a run of 1:05.70 in the race.
Elsewhere on the men's side, Oluwa Kinte secured an eighth-place finish in the shot put with a top toss of 12.69 meters, while Sean Myron's 16th-place finish was tops among Penn State Harrisburg throwers in the weight throw.
For the women, Taylor Nicholas earned a top-20 finish in the 60m, as did Isabella McGuire in the shot put. Gabrielle Deitrich just missed out on a top-20 mark as the team's top performer in the weight throw.
The Lions will return to action in two weeks at the Seamus McElligott Invitational hosted by Haverford on Saturday, Feb. 1.
