Women's Hoops Earns Season Sweep of Penn College

Box Score

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's women's basketball team completed the regular-season sweep of United East foe Penn College with a 61-50 victory at the Capital Union Building on Wednesday night, Feb. 9.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Penn State Harrisburg (14-7, 9-4 United East) used a strong second-half effort to secure a double-digit victory over Penn College (6-14, 5-8 United East) on Wednesday night.

Jenna Montana netted a game-high 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds, Anna Mahan had 13 points and seven boards, Kendis Butler added nine points and six steals, and Jayla Galbreath dished-out 10 assists to go along with seven points.

With things tied at 36 late in the third quarter, the Lions closed out the frame on a 7-0 run that began with a Giahny Correa layup and ended with a Mahan jumper. The Wildcats cut the deficit to 43-42 with seven minutes to play but Montana halted the visitors' momentum with an old-fashioned 3-point play. Mahan added a layup and Galbreath pushed the lead to nine thanks to a 3-ball midway through the fourth.

Another Mahan layup stretched the home team's advantage to double digits and Montana made it 56-42 with a triple with 3:37 left to play. Butler put an exclamation on the scoring when she flushed her third 3-ball of the night with less than a minute remaining to put things out of reach for good.
