Salisbury, MD. – Penn State Harrisburg Softball dropped a doubleheader to Salisbury University, but due to other CAC results, clinched a CAC playoff berth for the first time in school history.

Salisbury: 24-10 Overall, 11-3 CAC

How it Happened:

The Lions took on the high powered Salisbury offense held them to one run in the opening two innings of action. The Lions would strike in the third inning. Kaylee DeMatteo would led off the inning with a single to right field. The Lions would then pinch run Carlee Gouchenaur and she would move to second on a sacrifice bunt by Nina Bruno. Erelle Sowers would then smash a double into center field allowing Gochenaur to score and tie the game at one. The Seagulls would rally and retake the lead in the bottom of the inning, and while the Lions would get baserunners in the fourth and fifth innings, they could not recover.

The Lions would strike early in game two when in the first inning, Emily Parmer crushed a home run over the left field fence giving the Lions lead. The Lions would then threaten in the second inning with DeMatteo drawing a walk and Kaylee Simon singling past second baseman into right field. The Lions would not be able to capitalize and the Seagulls would rally to pick up the win.
